NEW Fabrics Made Out of Mixed Media
The Legend of Kunibiki, 2013

NEW fabrics created out of mixed media was a hit at the "My Favorite Myth" show at the O'Hanlon Center For
the Arts. Elise was delighted to talk to visitors who pondered about the nature
of her piece, "The Legend of Kunibiki", inspired by the Japanese creatiion
story. When she was asked if the fabrs was silk, she knew she had succeeded
in her all time goal as a contemporary textile artist to make a fabric that
reads like one thing and in reality is something else. Just as the gods pulled
the ancient land of of Izumo together, the mixed media provides a
substrate for the beautiful colorants, which Elise calls her "Ancient Trade
Secret", that she uses to create her stunning translucent works of art.
