THE WORLD OF EQUUS

Picture
Camargue Dream, digital painting, 2010
When I'm not volunteering my time to non-profit art organizations and teaching folks how to grow their art careers, I delve into the ancient world of Equus!  As a painter and printmaker, I love to watch images evolve as I tease them into a story, full of magic and mystery.   I use various media including mock frescoe created with plaster and water-soluble oil paint, acrylic paint and various media, watercolor, traditional oil paint and digital painting, using the app called ArtStudio.  I also create contemporary "paintings" with eggshells.  My fiber arts extend into "thread-painting", created with Solvey (sheets of glue).  I love to explore all kinds of media, watch for happy accidents and trust my muse.  I follow my heart, with all of my senses wide open to whinnies and snorts!   Some say my work reminds them of the ancient cave paintings of Lasqueaux.

Watercolor Paintings

I have been painting with watercolors for 25 years.  I start out by whetting the paper, then adding color and watching for my equine friends arrive.  This beautiful dignified Spirit emerged after I spent a day at Willow Tree Stables photographing the rescue horses.

Oil Paintings

I entered into the traditional oil painting world in 2010, after meeting Chester Arnold at the College of Marin.  Naturally, I gravitated towards painting my favorite creatures!

Printmaking
Picture"It Isn't Always Black and White" Monotype 2013

I am always growing my art skills.  In printmaking class, I learned how to make mono types.  These one-of-a-kind art treasures are a perfect way to combine water-soluble media and inks.
